This is a pricing analysis post. The numbers come from FastNetMon's published pricing page and their LiveView announcement. We sell a competing product (Flowtriq), so we are not a neutral party, but every figure listed here is sourced from public information. If any number changes, we will update this page.

FastNetMon's two-layer pricing model

To use LiveView, you need two separate subscriptions: FastNetMon Advanced (the detection engine) and LiveView (the web dashboard). They are billed independently.

Layer 1: FastNetMon Advanced license

FastNetMon Advanced is priced by maximum monitored bandwidth:

Bandwidth Tier Monthly Annual (per month)
10 Gbps $115/mo ~$96/mo ($1,150/yr)
40 Gbps $220/mo ~$183/mo ($2,200/yr)
100 Gbps $350/mo ~$292/mo ($3,500/yr)

Monthly subscriptions also carry an $85 one-time activation fee. All tiers require a dedicated server with at least 16 GB RAM, 8 CPU cores (SSE 4.2), and 150 GB+ SSD. That server typically costs $60 to $150/month from any provider, though you may already have one available.

Layer 2: LiveView (web dashboard)

Billing Price
Monthly $70/user/month
Annual $720/user/year (~$60/user/month)

Every person who needs dashboard access requires their own LiveView seat. There are three roles: Owner, Admin, and Read-only. All three cost the same $70/user/month.

Combined cost by team size

Here is what the total monthly bill looks like at the 10 Gbps tier (the most common starting point) as you add team members:

Team Advanced (10G) LiveView Monthly Total Annual Total
1 user $115 $70 $185 $2,220/yr
2 users $115 $140 $255 $3,060/yr
3 users $115 $210 $325 $3,900/yr
5 users $115 $350 $465 $5,580/yr
10 users $115 $700 $815 $9,780/yr

At 10 users, LiveView alone costs more than six times the base Advanced license. These numbers do not include the dedicated server infrastructure ($60 to $150/month), which pushes the real total higher.

At higher bandwidth tiers

Larger networks pay more for the Advanced license, which compounds the total:

Scenario Advanced LiveView (5 users) Monthly Total
40 Gbps, 5 users $220 $350 $570
100 Gbps, 5 users $350 $350 $700
100 Gbps, 10 users $350 $700 $1,050

A 100 Gbps deployment with 10 dashboard users costs $1,050/month in software licensing alone, or $12,600/year.

What LiveView includes

For that price, LiveView provides:

  • Real-time traffic visualization (inbound/outbound PPS and BPS)
  • Attack event timeline
  • Team access with role-based controls (Owner, Admin, Read-only)
  • Web-based configuration management for FastNetMon Advanced settings

LiveView is a user interface layer. It does not add new detection capabilities, mitigation methods, or forensic tools to FastNetMon Advanced. The underlying detection engine, attack classification, and mitigation behavior remain unchanged.

Costs that are not on the invoice

Two additional costs are easy to overlook when budgeting:

  • Dedicated server — FastNetMon Advanced requires its own bare-metal or dedicated VM. Budget $60 to $150/month depending on provider and specs.
  • Bandwidth overages — If your monitored traffic exceeds your licensed tier (e.g., you are on the 10 Gbps plan but regularly peak above 10 Gbps), you need to upgrade to the next tier. The jump from 10 Gbps to 40 Gbps is $105/month more.

For the 10 Gbps plan with 3 users, the realistic all-in monthly cost is:

$115 (Advanced) + $210 (3x LiveView) + ~$100 (server) = ~$425/month or ~$5,100/year

Side-by-side: FastNetMon + LiveView vs Flowtriq

We sell Flowtriq, so take this comparison for what it is. But the pricing structures are different enough that a direct table is useful for anyone evaluating both.

FastNetMon Advanced + LiveView Flowtriq
Pricing model Per bandwidth tier + per user Per node ($9.99/node/month)
Web dashboard $70/user/month add-on Included, unlimited users
Team seats $70 per additional user Unlimited, no extra cost
Dedicated server required Yes ($60-150/mo) No (SaaS)
Bandwidth tier lock-in Yes, upgrade required if exceeded No bandwidth tiers
1 user, 1 node $185/mo + server $9.99/mo
3 users, 10 nodes $325/mo + server $99.90/mo
5 users, 20 nodes $465/mo + server $199.80/mo
10 users, 50 nodes $815/mo + server $499.50/mo

The pricing models diverge most when team size grows. Adding a read-only user for a junior NOC analyst costs $0 on Flowtriq and $70/month on FastNetMon LiveView.

What Flowtriq includes that LiveView does not

Beyond the dashboard, Flowtriq's $9.99/node price includes capabilities that are not part of FastNetMon Advanced at any tier:

  • Multi-vector attack classification — SYN floods, DNS amplification, UDP fragmentation, NTP reflection, and 20+ attack types identified individually, not grouped as "bandwidth" or "packet" floods
  • PCAP forensics — Automatic packet capture during attacks with a web-based analyzer
  • Sub-second detection — Per-second traffic analysis, not dependent on flow export intervals
  • L7 / HTTP flood detection — Access log parsing for application-layer attacks
  • AI incident summaries — Automated postmortem reports for every attack
  • Cloud API mitigations — Native integrations with Cloudflare, DigitalOcean, Vultr, and Linode
  • Terraform provider — Infrastructure-as-code support

FastNetMon Advanced is strong at what it does: sFlow/NetFlow-based detection with BGP FlowSpec and RTBH mitigation. LiveView makes those capabilities more accessible through a web interface. The question is whether a UI layer at $70/user/month closes the gap on the features listed above, or whether the total cost makes alternatives worth evaluating.

Frequently asked questions

How much does FastNetMon LiveView cost?
LiveView costs $70 per user per month on a monthly plan, or $720 per user per year on an annual plan (effectively $60/user/month). This is charged on top of the FastNetMon Advanced license, which starts at $115/month for the 10 Gbps tier.
Is LiveView included with FastNetMon Advanced?
No. LiveView is a separate product with its own subscription. Existing FastNetMon Advanced customers must purchase LiveView access separately. It is not bundled into any Advanced tier.
What does FastNetMon cost for a team of 5?
On the 10 Gbps plan: $115/month (Advanced) + $350/month (5 LiveView users at $70 each) = $465/month, or $5,580/year. Add $60 to $150/month for the required dedicated server, bringing the realistic total to $525 to $615/month.
Does LiveView add new detection or mitigation features?
No. LiveView is a web-based user interface for the existing FastNetMon Advanced functionality. It does not change or upgrade the detection engine, attack classification, or mitigation capabilities. It provides a visual way to access the same features that were previously CLI-only.
How does FastNetMon LiveView pricing compare to Flowtriq?
Flowtriq is priced at $9.99/node/month with unlimited team members and a web dashboard included. For a 20-node deployment with 3 users, Flowtriq costs $199.80/month total. FastNetMon Advanced plus LiveView for 3 users costs $325/month (plus server infrastructure), before any additional detection or forensic capabilities.
What happens if my traffic exceeds my FastNetMon tier?
You need to upgrade to the next bandwidth tier. The 10 Gbps to 40 Gbps upgrade adds $105/month to the base license. Flowtriq does not have bandwidth tiers; pricing is per monitored node regardless of traffic volume.

The bottom line

FastNetMon LiveView is a useful product. A web dashboard addresses a real gap in FastNetMon's feature set, and the RBAC controls make it practical for teams. The per-user pricing model means the total cost scales with headcount rather than infrastructure, which creates a different cost curve than per-node or flat-rate alternatives.

For a solo operator on the 10 Gbps plan, the combined cost is $185/month plus server infrastructure. For a 5-person NOC team on the same plan, it is $465/month plus server infrastructure. The math is straightforward, and whether those numbers fit your budget depends on your team size and what feature set you need.
